The acclaimed documentary The Tempest of Neptun, directed by Katarina Stanković, will have its U.S. premiere on April 4 at the prestigious Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, as reported by Variety.
With breathtaking cinematography and a richly textured soundscape, The Tempest of Neptun transports viewers to the stunning island of Vis. Through intimate storytelling, the film explores the community’s response to global changes, touching on themes of identity, cultural heritage, and environmental preservation.
Sound plays a pivotal role in shaping the film’s immersive experience. The expertly crafted sound design—led by Miloš Drobnjaković, with sound editor Ivan Uzelac, and Foley artist Aleksa Prljević—brings the island’s atmosphere to life, from the rhythmic waves and bustling harbors to moments of quiet reflection.
A visually and sonically stunning documentary, The Tempest of Neptun offers a poetic yet urgent conversation about the balance between progress and preservation. The film has already been recognized with the Audience Award for Best Film at the 22nd Liburnia Film Festival.

Katarina Stanković is a filmmaker with a distinguished international background. She is an alumna of the San Francisco Art Institute, Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, and the Babelsberg Konrad Wolf Film Academy. She has also participated in Sarajevo and Berlinale Talents (Short Film Station) and the Ex Oriente program (2019/20). Her short films have been showcased at major international festivals, including Locarno and Berlinale, earning critical acclaim and awards.
The Tempest of Neptun is a Serbian-Croatian-Polish co-production (2024, 64 minutes).
